Message for former clients of AI / SmartExpat

This message appeared in my timeline from a page I am a member of so please make sure you have stopped any direct debits you may have with them (obviously this isnt us)   "For any of you business peeps out there who use to advertise on AngloINFO, beware even though they have gone out of business they have just taken €50 from our account today."

Fitter

Despite much speculation about their current business status, they are still an active company according to company's house - very odd goings on.

Very odd as we know the offices were closed down and they were asked to leave immediately.  If you try and access the sites they have gone apart from the Paris one (well it was working last week anyway).

Hi Fitter

It is beyond strange, as Sarah mentioned all the staff were let go and every site bar Ai (Not SE) Paris seemed to lose their databases.  The elephant in the room is why Paris is still going at all, I know the owners of the site, so a call is going to be needed.

When I know more, if I can I will pass it on.

The AI Paris site has now gone

wow thanks Fitter, doubt we will ever get our money back :(

Angloinfo is back online. With the same company - Angloinfo Limited and the same company registered number if you go to the bottom of the "about us" page. How is it legal to continue to trade through a company in liquidaton? - Companies House lists them as in creditors liquidtation.

I think, Richard would know more, that its been bought by an American.  Trouble is half the links do not work.

Fitter

Oh it could be that if the buyer is american they don't know how UK company law works!

Hi Fitter,

Yep Jeff (old Franchisee, good guy) has bought the domain names of Ai and SE and the software, databases etc.  He contacted us a few weeks ago to see if we (and the other Franchisees) wanted to buy into the business and I have been looking at what has been relaunched and we have exchanged a few emails since.  I have let him know about your comments, so hopefully he can change that.

Hopefully?  I am not sure how much access he has at the moment.  I cannot believe it can be that much as nothing is being done from a back office perspective.  SEO 2 weeks ago was amazing, Ai was top across the board, but we were doing a load of checks on Monday and they had really started to slip as there are tonnes of broken links now and meds etc. for sale on the forums are not being removed.

The interesting comment he did let me know is that SE was never intended to be a Franchisee site, so that explains why we and all the others were all forced out in less than 6 months.

Well that was quick, yes they have a US company and Jeff will get that changed asap.  Thanks Fitter.

Fitter

Interesting reply Richard,  - thanks. The  reason for the ban on operating or trading from a company in liquidation was to stop the well known phoenix company procedure - go bust on friday to get rid of the debts, back trading on monday with the same company name etc.

Thought a pretty full answer was the right way to go, assumed that Jeff wasn't up to anything dodgy.
